Can the BD-40 lead North Georgia Democrats to a resurgence in Nov?

Will the election of Joseph Mann, Jack Lance, Chris Irvin, or as I call them, The BD-40 (Bluedog Democrats under the age of 40) help lead the democrats to a resurgence in North Ga?

Most Certainly!

Next Month there is a strong possibility that democrats maybe on the verge of a comeback up in North Georgia.

Three Conservative Democrats are running for seats that they have a greater than average chance of winning on November 2.

They are:

State Senate 51 candidate Joseph Mann (D-Mineral Bluff)
State Rep 28 candidate Christopher J Irvin (D-Toccoa)
State Rep 8 candidate Jack Lance (D-Blairsville)

Each of these young, conservative democrats are running hard as we near the end of a long sometimes stressful campaign.

North Georgia was once a democratic bastion until the late 1980s/early 1990s when voters started changing their voting registrations & began to vote republican.

Then it really went bright red when Nathan Deal who won a seat in Congress as a democrat back in 1992 switched parties in 1995 & became a republican & every since then it has been difficult for democrats to win seats up in the North Georgia Mountain region (with the exception of Charles Jenkins, who lost to Stephen Allison in 2008 & Jeannette Jamieson, who lost to Michael Harden in 2008 as well)

This year North Georgia Democrats may finally break down that wall that has been difficult for the democrats to break thru with the election of Mann, Lance & Irvin.


Jack Lance, 30, the youngest of the three was served on the staff of then State Senator Carol Jackson (D-Cleveland) & former Governor & US Senator Zell Miller, who has endorsed Lance for HD 8. Lance attended Young Harris College & Mercer University



Joseph Mann, 32 is a Georgia Tech Graduate who founded Georgia Prime Real Estate & is a member of the American Cancer Society has gotten support from various Tea Party individuals up in North Georgia.


Chris Irvin, 35, is the grandson of outgoing Agriculture Commissioner Tommy Irvin who founded is own business called Deercourt Enterprises & attended Piedmont College & Clemson University.

All three men are God-Fearing individuals who supports the right to life, staunch supporters of the right to bear arms & keeping government out of people's lives.

Mann, Lance & Irvin will each bring new, energetic leadership and fresh ideas to the General Assembly. Put these three fine individuals into office & let them bring prosperity to their constituents, as well as to the rest of Georgia.

Fannin County native and north Georgia businessman Joseph Mann (D-Mineral Bluff) is hard at work campaigning for the Georgia State Senate. Joseph Mann has been traveling across the eight north Georgia counties that make up the 51st Senate District for nine months. Mr. Mann has listened to the
people living in this district, and he often visits two or more meetings every day to speak with local citizens, school boards, county commissions and city councils.

In February, they welcomed their third child, Owen. The Mann’s attend Harbor Baptist Church. Joseph and Jennifer are active members of the community participating with civic and
volunteer organizations as well as their childrens many activities.

Mann primarily works in the real estate, construction and development industries, and he also works with other small businesses.

Appalachian Democrat Joseph Mann (D-Mineral Bluff) will try to win open State Senate Seat 51

There is another open State Senate seat that is being vacated & its up in the Georgia Mountains. Senate Seat 51, which was held by Chip pearson who resigned under a cloud of suspicion has a democrats running for that seat.

His name is Joseph Mann (D-Mineral Bluff), who lives on a small farm in Fannin County with his wife Jennifer.




For those who doesn't know where Mineral Bluff is located, its located right on the Ga-Tennessee border in Fannin County.

Mann, 32 who is owner of JM Southern Development, in which he is a a developer & builder is looking to become the first democrat to hold that seat since the 1990s.

Mann platform includes Restoring the Homeoners Tax Relief Grant, Lowering Taxes for Working Families, Increase funding for Ga State Patrol, creating jobs for North Ga, & invest in education, etc.



Mann says: We face serious issues in these changing times. While the tough issues of the economy, tax reform, public safety and education affect us all, I look forward to the future. Profile: Joseph Mann candidate for State Senate District 51

I normally don't venture into North Georgia, but in this case I wanted to.

Meet Joseph Mann, who will be running for the State Senate next year up in North Georgia where he will take on Chip Pearson (R-Dawsonville). I talked with Joseph on friday night & let me say this man knows his stuff. First some background:

Joseph has been a lifelong resident of Fannin County Ga and an active member of the community. He lives in Mineral Bluff Georgia with his wife, Jennifer and they have two wonderful children, Noah and Faith,both of whom attend Fannin County public schools. They are expecting their third child in Febuary. Joseph's democratic background extends back to his Great- great grandparents and has been passed down to his own children. His parents, both strong democrats, are well known in the community, as is Joseph. His father owns a Real Estate office and is the broker of the office. His mother is and has been a CRNA for 20 years and gives anesthesia at Fannin Reginal Hospital. Joseph and Jennifer are both active committee members with the Fannin County democratic party and Joseph was Chairman of the party at age 21.

He attended College at Georgia Tech and Reinhardt College then returned back home to Blue Ridge to work in land development and real estate. He has been active with Habitat for Humanity, Feed Fannin, works with the youth group at his church, and is an active participant with the local Relay for Life. He has also been a part of the Sierra Club, NRDC, and the Upper Chattahoochee River Keepers.

Joseph is a true blue democrat running in an area deemed as apolitical graveyard for democrats, but I'm happy to see Joseph Mann & Mike Freeman (who is running for the 9th congressional district in 2010) step up to the plate up there in that tough region. I really do think Joseph has a good chance up there in SD 51. His knowledge of the top issue facing the state: "Water" is so great that democrats need to go all out in helping Joseph pickup that Senate seat. Im not going to go into great detail about our conservsation, but it was a good I will tell that. We talked about a whole range of issues like water, statewide races, the turmoil in the Georgia GOP, etc. I'll have more to say about Joseph as next years election rolls around, but I kinda wish he was running statewide instead of running a local race.
