Army Veteran Doug Heckman to run for 7th Congressional District
Received another tip that Doug Heckman (D-Norcross), who ran for the 7th Congressional District back in 2008 will run again for the seat in the fall.
Heckman, a conservative democrat returned from another tour of duty in Iraq where he was a Special Forces Colonel, briefed the US Commanding Generals on the daily activities of Green Berets and Navy SEALs across the battlespace, which in the process Earned his third Bronze Star.
Heckman was also a U.S. Army Colonel, serving as a senoir advisor to the Iraqi Army, which he earned a Bronze Star and Combat Action Badge among other awards & was a U.S. Army Special Forces Lieutenant Colonel while deployed to Afghanistan right after the 9/11 attacks.
His most recent job was as a Managing Director for a $40 billion asset management firm. He also served as leader on Senator Johnny Isakson’s Academy Selection Board &
currently serves on Investment Committee for West Point Endowment.
He's married with two sons who are cadets at West Point & one daughter.
