Chuck Williams of the Columbus Ledger Enquirer reports
Water conservation remains a critical topic facing Georgia, and Rep. Debbie Buckner has offered what she thinks is legislation that will help conserve water.
The Junction City Democrat introduced a House bill a week ago that will restrict the hours property owners can water their lawns and outside plants. The goal is to limit water during the times of day when it is more likely to evaporate.
House Bill 1039 would restrict watering between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.
“It is similar to the drought rules and regulations, and I would like for it to be like that,” Buckner said.
The bill has been assigned to the House Natural Resources and Environment Committee, though a hearing date has not been scheduled.
