The event will be open to the public. Faircloth said the Perry Jazz Band, the Westfield Chorus, and Ashley Williams, vocalist, will be on the program, along with “a couple of speakers.” He said the speeches, including his own, will be short, and that this is an opportunity to meet people.
If it rains, the event will be held inside the hotel.
Faircloth, who works for Parrish Construction and has a long record of community service, is currently the only candidate in the race for mayor. Longtime Mayor Jim Worrall has announced that he will not seek re-election.
Qualifying for mayor and council seats in the upcoming election takes place at the Houston County Board of Elections, and will close at the end of the working day on Friday, Sept. 4.
