In an effort to assist citizens with voting in the Nov. 2 general election, the Dooly County Chamber of Commerce and Vienna Woman's Club are sponsoring a local candidates’ forum Thursday, Oct. 7 at 6 p.m. in the Dooly County Courthouse.
An impartial moderator will facilitate the forum, asking each candidate a series of five questions. Candidates will be given a maximum of 3 minutes to answer each question.
Candidates who have confirmed their participation in this event include Congressman Sanford Bishop, State Senator George Hooks, State Representatives Buddy Harden, and Lynmore James;
Also County Commission District 3 candidates Eugene Cason and Pat Joiner; District 1 commission candidates, incumbent Charles Anderson and his opponent, Ann Speight Daw; and Linda West a republican candidate in the Dooly County Board of Education District 5 seat.
The incumbent for the District 5 seat, democrat Janie Winters has not yet confirmed her attendance.
U. S. Senator Johnny Isakson will be sending Jody Redding to represent him at the forum.
Also confirmed are secretary of state candidate David Chastain; commissioner of agriculture candidate Kevin Cherry; commissioner of labor candidate Mark Butler and representatives of Gary Black, also a candidate for commissioner of agriculture and Tim Echols who is running for a public service commission seat.
All citizens of Dooly County are invited to attend this event.
