On Wednesday, Administrative Law Judge John Gatto recommended to Gov. Sonny Perdue that three members of the Warren County Board of Education should be removed from office.
In his eight-page decision, Gatto ruled that board members Clara Roberts, Cecil Brown and Dr. Charles Culver “breached the public trust” by their actions. He wrote that those actions negatively impacted an entire community, when the board’s dysfunction led to the system possibly losing its accreditation with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
According to Gatto’s decision, the three board members breached the state code of ethics by making discriminatory comments about prospective school system hires, and breached the public trust by refusing to sign an ethics policy.
A phone call to the board members’ attorney, E. Brian Watkins of Atlanta, was not immediately returned.
