Election Night Results

Kip Smith, son of former State Rep. Vance Smith wins in a rout over Steve Earles to finish the term left by Vance Smith of Pine Mountain, who resignes to lead the GDOT. Smith got 65% of the vote to Earles 35%.
Up in Milledgeville, Rusty Kidd, the son of the late State Senator Culver Kidd wins easily over democrat Darrell Black to represent Baldwin & Putnam Counties in the upcoming 2010 legislative session. Kidd got 64% to Black 36%. Black has backed by the Democratic Party of Georgia, although you can say Kidd, who ran as a independent is a lean democrat himself, having donated to candidates such as John Barrow & Jim Martin's unsuccessful 2008 run for the U.S. Senate, but with both parties backing other candidates for that seat, he will will be the only true independent voice in the general assembly.
In Warner Robins, Chuck Shaheen defeats Chuck Chalk to become the next mayor of Warner Robins, taking over for the late Donald Walker.
