Rep. Marshall to host town hall meeting in Newton County

COVINGTON — U.S. Rep. Jim Marshall, D-Ga., will host a town hall meeting from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday in the Alcovy High School auditorium, located at 14567 Ga. Highway 36.

Marshall, who represents Georgia’s 8th Congressional District, will give constituents a chance to voice their opinions and concerns and ask questions regarding the economy, health care, energy prices, protecting American jobs and other issues.

This will be the sixth town hall meeting Marshall has hosted in Covington during the last two years. The last took place in late September.

“Jim believes it’s really difficult to gauge what people think without talking to them,” Moore said, pointing out that Marshall represents about 630,000 residents.

“People are a little more motivated to come right now,” he said, noting that the economy, unemployment and health care are top concerns. “People are hurting. They want their representatives to know, and Jim wants to hear it.”
