According to a report in the Jeff Davis Ledger’s Aug. 26 issue, former State Representative Roger Byrd pleaded guilty to two counts of theft by taking. Byrd along with Bruce Davis and Perry Sanders entered guilty pleas in connection with the Armitec, Inc. case more than four years after the first Jeff Davis Grand Jury Indictments were handed down charging the three with multiple crimes committed against Jeff Davis County.
Byrd must serve 10 years probation on both counts, to run consecutively, and pay $250,000.00 restitution to Jeff Davis County.
