Longtime Massachussetts Senator Ted Kennedy (D) passed away last night after a long battle with Brain Cancer. He was 77. Kennedy succeeded his brother John F. Kennedy as senator when he was elected president back in 1960. Kennedy was a very influential figure in Washington, even among republicans who disagreed with kennedy on various isses.
He challenged James E. Carter, better knwn as Jimmy Carter for the democratic nomination back in 1980, losing to carter in the primary. He will be missed.
